Pandemic Poem #22

Camp Chase Trail Connector to Ohio to Erie 4.22

Rain, rain, reconsider

Give up and go.

Orchids bloom beside bridges

Squirrels swing from oaks

Bluejay perch on pin oaks like woodpeckers

Striped chipmunks chase children through rotted logs

Two tiny swirled-shelled snails

slug

slowly

over

slick asphalt.

I fear for their lives

and

gently

help

them

cross,

acquainted with the feeling of

being crushed

by the unexpected.
