Everyday Poem #10

The way sunlight dapples

pine needle shadows

on the back of a chair’s oak veneer

reality against the illusion of reality

makes my heart feel

anything everything

is possible.

Even in the darkness

there must exist some light

to illuminate unseen edges

so we know shadow.

Even in the light,

there must be darkness

or we risk blindness

by half-truths and hopes.
